Wines of the Week 09/06

Luigi Baudana “Dragon” Langhe Bianco 2021

First produced in the 1980’s and now crafted under the stewardship of the Vajra family since 2009, this interesting and approachable mix of Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay, Riesling, and Nascetta has something for every drinker. If you’re looking for a white that will make everyone happy, this is it!

Railsback Freres Cuvee Speciale Grenache Noir 2018

inspired by the traditions of Chateauneuf-du-Pape but with a California attitude, this Grenache shows that there is certainly more to left coast reds beyond Cab and Pinot. Gone is the French austerity, replaced with a lively acidity and a savory marine influence. This juice is great on its own but it really comes alive when paired with food, especially bbq or burgers off the grill.

Paul Avril Clos de Papes Le Petit Vin d’Avril NV

From Paul Avril’s famed Clos de Papes comes an incredible value perfect for a weeknight unwinding on the couch after work. Predominantly Grenache and Syrah with a cornucopia of other varietals rounding it out, this is a serious wine at a price that seems too good to be true.
