Wines of the Week 11/01

A delicious range of South African Wine to explore new flavors

Boschkloof Wines Sauvignoin Blanc 2021

Pale, bright, green-tinged yellow. Bright thiol aromas swirl in the bowl – kiwi, guava, passionfruit, and grapefruit. The palate brings more grassy overtones, with a white pepper spice and the balanced tangy sweetness of key lime pie. Excellent concentration of fruit with a deep, dry finish.

crystallum Chardonnay The Agnes 2020

Crystallum are heading the new wave of exciting South African producers whose wines are an absolute delight to drink and of extremely high quality. They’re based in Walker Bay on the Cape South Coast, benefiting from outstanding growing conditions. Brilliant cool climate Chardonnay here, with crisp acid and nicely rounded texture - completely balanced. Aroma and flavour spectrum is citrus and stone fruit based - lots of lime, grapefruit and white peach with great drive and intensity.

Lovely Creatures Cabernet Sauvignon 2020

Enticing aromas of ripe red plum, boysenberry and blackberry form the nose of this bright, refreshingly fruit-fueled Cab. It's smooth and satiny on the palate, with more of those ripe and juicy fruit flavors that the nose first offered on display in the mouth that are then picked up by a delicate framework of fine tannins and ample acidity. It's a well-balanced and easy-to-like pour.

Kloof Street Swartland Rouge 2020

The spicy perfumed nose has undertones of dark fruits. Each variety in the blend adds balance to the wine, filling your palate. Tinta Barocca brings tannin, Cinsault brings perfume, Carignan brings freshness, Grenache brings fruit character, and the Syrah ties it all together.
